In October 2022, the Administrative Council of the European Patent Office (EPO) made a pivotal decision that will reshape the way we calculate response deadlines for documents served by the EPO.
Effective November 1, 2023, the EPO's "10-Day Rule" will be abolished.
This means that all communications issued by the EPO on or after that date will be deemed to be received on the date of the communication, and any related deadlines will be calculated accordingly.
With just over a month remaining until this transformative shift takes effect, it is imperative for those who frequently engage with the EPO to start adapting to these new rules.
