Industry news News Team news 04/03/2025

Secerna LLP is delighted to introduce Jacob Robertson as the newest addition to our growing team. Jacob specializes in the physics, electronics, and engineering sectors of Intellectual Property, bringing his exceptional academic background and specialized knowledge to serve our diverse global clientele.

Jacob’s path to becoming a trainee patent attorney at Secerna is built on a foundation of rigorous academic achievement and cutting-edge research. He graduated from the University of Oxford with a Distinction in a master’s degree in mathematical and theoretical physics. This was followed by a DPhil in Theoretical Physics, also from the University of Oxford, where his doctoral work focused on the non-equilibrium behaviour of quantum many-body systems, such as assemblies of interacting qubits.

This deep dive into complex theoretical physics provides Jacob with unparalleled insight into the scientific principles underpinning innovations in quantum technologies, computing, semiconductor devices, and materials science.

"I am excited to join Secerna LLP and contribute to protecting innovations in the physics and engineering sectors," said Jacob. "The firm's commitment to excellence and its strong reputation in handling complex technical patents made it an ideal place for me to develop my career."

Secerna Partner, Jason Boakes stated, "We are delighted to welcome Jacob to our team. His impressive academic achievements and specialized knowledge in quantum physics and related fields will be invaluable to our clients. His expertise will significantly strengthen our capabilities in these rapidly evolving sectors."

Secerna's strategic growth continues, and we are dedicated to attracting and developing talented individuals with a passion for intellectual property. We are committed to providing a supportive environment for trainees to excel and contribute to our clients' success.
