We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of Miriam Payne and Jess Rowe's ambitious Pacific rowing expedition! As proud sponsors, we extend our full support as they embark on this record-breaking attempt to become the first women's team and the first pair* to row the entire Pacific Ocean non-stop and unsupported.
Today, at 09:45 am local time (15:45 GMT), the pair departed from La Punta, Lima, Peru, setting off on their 8,000-mile journey. They are expected to arrive in eastern Australia within 150-200 days.
Their daily routine will be rigorous, involving 15 hours of rowing in a two-hours-on, two-hours-off pattern, with adjustments made as needed. When not rowing, they will be focused on consuming the essential 5,000 calories per day and maximizing sleep.
The team will spend the next six months aboard "Velocity," their 9-meter Rossiter Ocean 2 rowing boat. This vessel is equipped with comprehensive safety and communications systems, along with over 200 days' worth of provisions. Notably, they'll be utilizing specially formulated vitamin sprays from British company BetterYou and SaltStick electrolytes to aid in recovery between rowing shifts.
To help them physically and mentally cope with the demands of the voyage, they are carrying innovative technologies onboard. This includes a Nurosym system, which uses targeted electrical impulses via the Vagus Nerve for neuromodulation, helping to maintain calm and consistent energy levels. Additionally, British company Home Harvest has developed an on-board growing unit, providing a sustainable source of nutritious leaves and microgreens.
We will provide regular updates on the rowers' progress, including details on their navigational challenges, environmental conditions, and the performance of "Velocity." In a recurring segment, "Seas The Day: The Innovation Behind the Gear," we will delve deeper into the technologies and supplies supporting their journey.
This expedition represents a significant endeavour in maritime exploration, and we, alongside our sponsored team, are committed to delivering accurate and timely information.
